Opening Ceremony of the Public Financial Management Refresher Course No. (9) held

The opening ceremony of the Public Financial Management Refresher Course No. (9) was held this afternoon at the Public Financial Management Academy of the Ministry of Finance and Revenue.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, U Kyaw Htin, Deputy Minister for National Planning, U Han Win Aung, Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue, U Ye Naing, Member of the Union Civil Service Commission, members of the Board of the Public Financial Management Academy, Heads of Departments from the respective ministries, trainers and trainees.
At the ceremony, Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw highlighted that Myanmar has been trying to build a modern and developed country based on democracy and federalism. Therefore, there is a need for human resources with knowledge, skills, expertise, and inherent abilities and capabilities to contribute country’s economic development and to strengthen the country’s public financial mamagement system to keep pace with other developing countries as well. He emphasized that it will be able to implement with efficiency, responsibility, and accountability when we can effectively use the country’s limited resources to carry out national development activities for the benefit of the people. He also noted that the field of public financial management is concerned with increasing the availability of financial resources, allocating expenditures systematically, monitoring, reviewing, and reporting to determine whether allocated resources are being used effectively and efficiently. He also emphasized that political, economic, and social development of a country depends largely on strong public financial management. Therefore, we have been offerring basic, short-term, and special refresher courses at the Public Financial Management Academy to have a good public financial management system and produce competent civil servants. He also noted that until now, the Special Refresher Courses on Public Financial Management have been held (8) times and totally (277) direct-level officers from relevant ministries and departments have already attended these training courses. He encouraged the trainees to study thoroughly related subjects and experiences of public financial management, to apply them in the field of public financial management of the respective departments, and to support public service activities efficiently and effectively for the economic development of the country accordingly.
It is learnt that (38) director-level officers in charge of planning and finance from relevant ministries and departments have been attending the course and it will last for 5 weeks.
