- In order to implement the function for rural development and poverty reduction, Microfinance Business Law was enacted on 30th Nov 2011 in Myanmar and, local and foreign Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) have been granting microfinance business licenses to operate their businesses. Financial Regulatory Department (FRD) has assigned the functions to supervise and regulate microfinance institutions, private insurance companies as non-bank financial institutions in Myanmar.
