Coordination Meeting held to meet and exceed tax targets

The Coordination Meeting to meet and exceed various tax targets was held this morning at the Internal Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, Office No. 46 in Nay Pyi Taw and was attended by Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw, Deputy Ministers, Director General, Deputy Directors General, Directors, Region and State Revenue Officers and officials of the Internal Revenue Department.
At the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized that the Union Taxation Law has been promulgated annually according to the Constitution Law and the 2025 Union Taxation Law has also been promulgated on 31 March 2025. He highlighted that it is required to collect tax revenues to cover the increasing expenses for national development and public service activities. In this regard, it is necessary to explore taxpayers who are excluded from paying taxes in order to broaden tax base. He explained that tax revenues are being used for increasing expenditures to provide public service activities. Therefore, revenue officers have responsibilities for collecting tax revenue according to relevant tax laws, rules, and regulations as well as to explain to the taxpayers that tax revenues are being used for public benefits by sharing tax knowledge. The revenue officers should avoid corruption in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. By doing so, taxpayers will oblige to pay taxes and have more knowledge on tax laws, rules, and regulations. He instructed revenue officers to make concerted efforts to collect taxes in the fiscal year 2025-2026 according to the Union Taxation Law 2025 and related tax laws.
Afterwards, relevant region and state revenue officers, heads of large taxpayer and medium taxpayer offices presented current tax collection situations and progress for tax collection process to meet the tax targets in this fiscal year.
